The Nattier family joined ABWE in 2013 with the goal to use their medical training as a tool to open doors for sharing the gospel with unreached people groups. At that time, the Hospital of Hope was being built in northern Togo after an invitation from the local religious leaders. The hospital opened its doors in 2015, and since that time more than 120,000 patients have received compassionate medical care and spiritual care. We have seen that medical care often breaks down barriers that exist when they arrive. Their openness to hear and discuss Biblical truth has increased greatly since the hospital opened. Patients are coming from various countries and people groups including from Burkina Faso, northern Benin, northern Ghana, Ivory Coast, and throughout Togo. The region has become more unstable over the time the hospital has been open, and some of the patients are coming from areas where Christian workers have difficulty accessing.
B is a general surgeon. The surgical team often sees very advanced diseases that may require months of care. During that time, the patients have many contacts with the team which includes hospital chaplains from the local people groups. We are able to present truth through media, audio and visual as well as life on life. In 2023, the surgical team started a training and discipleship program for African Christian doctors to become surgeons through the Pan African Academy of Christian Surgeons.
N is a family nurse practitioner working in the area of women’s health. She has the opportunity to work with women with a variety of health issues, but especially with reproductive health and during pregnancy. Women here are often valued for their ability to have children, so this area opens many doors to discuss Biblical truths.
The Nattier family began attending Fellowship Greenville during their stateside ministry in 2020. Their stateside home since that time has become Greenville.
Ways to Pray: Please pray for the entire family as they minister in this area with limited resources, challenging climate and increasing security risks. Pray for their 6 children, 2 of which will soon be returning for college. Pray for the PAACS residents, many of whom are coming from countries other than Togo, for growth during their training and preparation for future ministry in Togo and beyond. Praise the Lord with us that there have been new churches started in the area. However, there is a lack of mature leaders needed to help these churches grow. Please pray for these young churches for spiritual growth and leadership development.
