Therefore: What We Do With What He’s Done
It is clear in scripture that a full understanding of the gospel results in heart change - a dying to self - that results in a faith that can be practically applied. As Paul writes the book of Romans, he begins by explaining a believer’s theology in chapters 1-11. The word, therefore, in chapter 12, verse 1, indicates a transition from his explanation of how the gospel works to how the gospel looks. This, therefore, doesn’t look like a striving-to-do checklist but rather like building unity with Christ and building an others-centered-practicality in response to what has been done for us. Romans 12 points us to the cross by asking that we respond to God’s work through Christ in our day-to-day lives.
