Bible Study Basics
Join us this summer for a co-ed 7-week seminar on Monday evenings where we will enjoy learning to implement some methods biblical scholars and teachers employ when studying God’s Word. We will focus on slowing down and digging deeper into the historical, literary, and theological aspects of Scripture by which we allow the Holy Spirit more space to speak truth through his Word. The participants will also learn where to find reliable and easily accessible resources that help us think more objectively and accurately about the meaning of a passage in its original context before thinking about how it applies in our present context.
By the end of the summer, participants will be better equipped to read and interpret Scripture both in their own devotional life and in a discipleship community. The group will be led by Clayton Allen, who has a Master’s Degree in Biblical Studies from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. Clayton has over 20 years of experience leading and facilitating small groups and Bible studies. You do not need to be a scholar to participate! You just need to be eager to learn and willing to practice what you learned.
