Day 14 | Beyond All Measure

Written by Danielle Sorrells

READ

"For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him." Psalm 103:11 (ESV)

REFLECT

The nearest star to Earth is the sun, at a whopping 93 million miles away. To put that into perspective, to circle the Earth would cover 25 thousand miles. That means I could circle the Earth 3,720 times before I even came close to the distance between the Earth and the sun. I can only imagine David’s overwhelm when he looked into the sky and penned these words. I’m sure David wasn’t talking about exact measurements, but the gist of the story is that God’s love for you is VAST beyond all measure, as the hymn says. Because of Jesus’ birth, his subsequent death, burial, and resurrection, no amount of my sin, shame, bitterness, or evil can overshadow the greatness of His love. What a joy to my heart! No matter how unlovable I may feel… His love is bigger.

RESPOND

Take a moment to step outside and look at the stars in the sky. Survey the vast space that is the heavens—each and every star millions and millions of miles away. “How deep the Father’s love for us”. Father, thank you for your huge, expansive love. For your unfathomable compassion and care. Thank you for your steadfast, great, and overwhelming love! Amen.
