My husband and I joined Fellowship Greenville this year after first visiting two weeks before COVID-19 hit in March 2020, and God has done some remarkable things for us through this church and the preaching! We have learned more about the importance of community and making connections with people who have a different story! We haven’t met a single person with the same background as us yet, and it’s been just what we’ve needed. We’ve learned to see God’s work from other perspectives and that it’s ok not to be the same as everyone you go to church with.
God has helped us see weaknesses in our marriage, helped us have a more gentle approach and relationship style of parenting with our children. We’ve realized that they need grace, too, and we have to realize our need for grace as we are trying to model it for our precious girls.
We started their Wednesday night re|engage marriage class in late August, and God has helped us so much! Being around other couples who were also working through tough things has been a good reminder that we are all in this together. We aren’t the only ones! Struggle is normal; working and growing through it is actually what is rare. With almost 50% of marriages ending in divorce and 51% of marriages in professing Christians ending in divorce, more churches need to be focusing on helping couples survive and thrive! Premarriage counseling doesn’t cut it. When you search for marriage classes in Greenville SC, Fellowship Greenville, Grace Church, and a First Pres Greenville pop up, all offering re|engage. If your marriage is struggling or you simply want to grow closer together, I encourage you to reach out and look into re|engage. I saw a friend post the other day about thanking God for bringing her and her husband together and keeping them together! I couldn’t have said it better myself.
